This glacial tongue of Eyjafjallajökull drops almost vertically into the chiaroscuro of the summit fog. The surface area of Iceland's glaciers is constantly shrinking. The smallest, Okjökull, disappeared in August 2019: a ceremony in its memory was held to raise awareness of the consequences of climate change. The largest, Vatnajökull, as large as Corsica, will have melted around the year 2300, according to glaciologists. Olivier Joly
