Collection: Mammut
I only discovered them in 2016, but the band is already almost 20 years old. Originally, a trio of girls who started playing together at 13, then recruited a boy on second guitar and another on drums. They're the Icelandic band I've seen live the most, 11 times to date. If they play two days in a row, I go; if they play twice in one day, I go. And I still don't really know how to describe their powerful appeal. Guitar rock, no doubt, but singular, hypnotic rock that works just as well in a stripped-down version, a cappella in a swimming pool or in the middle of a roundabout .
Already very good on record, it is on stage that they are the most impressive, like a gang united around the very charismatic singer Kata, capable of going on stage very very pregnant and carrying the room into the trance of which the group has the secret.
