"Let's play and see what happens": this is the principle adopted by the 13 Icelandic and American musicians gathered around Jakob Magnússon for this project recorded over 3 days of improvisations at Floki Studios, on the north coast of the country, in a, shall we say... isolated corner.
A former member of the Stuðmenn , famous in the 70s, Jakob is a zebulon who navigates between music, TV and film production, environmental activism and... inventing a weather forecasting device. Freedom of movement that is found in the 7 tracks that allow all the bridges between jazz, groove and experimentation, with a 70's touch.
The Americans in the band are Peter Erskine (drums), known for Weather Report and Steps Ahead , and Matthew Garrison (bass), for Shapeshifter and The Zawinul Syndicate . On the Icelandic side, around Jakob Magnússon / Jack Magnet on keyboards: Eyþór Gunnarsson (keyboards), Ragga Gísla, Egill Ólafsson and DÍSA (vocals), Sigtryggur Badursson and Einar Scheving (drums and percussion), Gundmundur Petursson (guitar), Ari Bragi Kárason (trumpet and flugelhorn), Phil Doyle and Jóel Pálsson (saxophone), Þorleifur Gaukur Davíðsson (harmonica).
