Helga Mogensen // Driftwood Boxes

Using her favorite material, driftwood collected on Icelandic beaches, Helga frames reproductions of old maps of Iceland, including the famous "sea monsters" map , which dates from 1585.

A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland, Helga R. Mogensen collects driftwood from the northern shores of Iceland, where she has ties, and assembles it into boxes and frames for old maps.

All of his pieces are handmade and unique.
