Barely formed in 2017 by Katla Vigdís and Ásrós Helga , then aged 16 and 14, Between Mountains won the national competition Icelandic Music Experiments. After their debut album was released shortly after, Ásrós moved on to other projects and Katla continued on her own under the band name, inspired by their hometown nestled between the mountains of the Northwest fjords.

This second album, opened by Open Grounds with Calexico accents, delivers an airy pop, between a western of the great Nordic spaces and the vocal freedom of Cocorosie ( Synthalag ).
