Collection: Botnleðja (Silt)
Sometimes named after the English translation of his name (Silt, meaning silt), Botnleðja has clearly listened to a lot of Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana and has mastered the angry riffs, saturated strings and vocals that derail in anger, all in the service of solid melodies.
Formed in 1994, the band had their heyday with their first two albums, then won again in 1999 the titles of best Icelandic group and best Icelandic album, with Fólk er Fífl .
In the meantime, they had supported the international tour of... Blur, no less; an amusing detail given the slightly unkempt, Oasis-like air of Botnleðja's music - which personally I find better than Oasis, but that's just my opinion.
In the early 2000s, the trio split up after 5 albums to pursue solo projects.
